An Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Adeniyi Ojo, in prison over the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, told the court that the defendant, on June 25, in Ido-Ekiti, raped a13-year-old girl, noting that the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant to a correctional centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case to August 15.
