A magistrates’ court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has ordered the remand of a 32-year-old farmer, Danjuma Kukwi, in a correctional centre for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arraigned the defendant on the charge of rape.
The Prosecutor, Marcus Audu, told the court that the matter was referred to the corps by the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Kafanchan, on August 16.
Audu said that the defendant, who resides in Chikka in Kaura LGA, lured the victim to his farm and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
He said the defendant confessed to the commission of the crime during investigation.
The Magistrate, Mr Samson Kwasu, who did not take the plea of the defendant, directed the prosecutor to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned to September 8. (NAN)
