An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, remanded a 25-year-old man, Ebenezer Olorunleke in prison custody for alleged conspiracy and murder.
Olorunleke, whose address was not given, is facing charges of conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 29 at Abekoko, Federal Housing area, Ado-Ekiti.
Apata alleged that the defendant conspired with his three friends and murdered a 35-year-old Sunday Olorunleke.
He also said that the defendant conspired with his friends to rob his brother of his motorcycle.
The prosecutor noted that in the process, there was a struggle between the deceased and the defendant in company with his group.
Apata said that the defendant and his accomplices stabbed the deceased twice and hit his head with a rod, which led to his death; and kept the dead body in the house.
He said that it was the neighbours that raised an alarm to alert others of the corpse in the house.
The prosecutor noted that the defendant was apprehended by the police while the three others had fled.
According to him, the offence contravenes Sections 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, consequently remanded the defendant in prison custody and adjourned the case until Oct. 24 for mention. (NAN)
