A chief magistrates’ court in Makurdi, Benue State, on Tuesday ordered that a land vendor and one other be remanded for alleged culpable homicide.

The police charged Terzungwe Aondoakaa, 24, and Gbaior Agirigi, 25, with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, acts of terrorism, illegal possession of firearm, and culpable homicide.

Magistrate Erdoo Ter did not take the suspects’ plea for lack of jurisdiction.

He ordered that they be remanded in the Federal Maximum Correctional Centre Makurdi,

He adjourned the case until Jan. 23 for further mention.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Regina Ishaya, told the court that the case was received at the DZ section SCID, Makurdi, through a signal number CJ:4161/BNS/JTF/OPZ/VOL.1/6R6 dated Nov. 17 from Operation Zenda JTF HQ.

Ishaya said on Nov. 16, men of Operation Zenda JTF led by Insp Barnabas Anyiatse, acting on a tip-off, reported that gunmen had attacked, shot and killed one Hungurmoga Agirigi of Vandeikya LGA of Benue State and made off with his corpse.

She said the team traced and arrested one Gbaior Agirigi of Booikyo, Ukum LGA and recovered some items belonging to the deceased.

She said they recovered the deceased’s guns and ammunition, comprising two fabricated AK-47 rifles with nine rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition, one SMG magazine, seven rounds of .9mm ammu-nition, one empty shell of 7.62x39mm ammunition, and a locally made pistol, all buried at the de-ceased’s compound in Mbamena Ukum LGA.
