Court remands commercial motorcyclist for theft of vehicle parts

A magistrate court in Osogbo, Osun State, on Tuesday remanded a 33-year-old commercial motorcycle operator in Lagos, Yemi Rafiu, for allegedly stealing some motor parts at a mechanic shop.

The police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, told the court that Rafiu committed the offence on July 18, 2020 at about 11pm at Balogun, Osogbo.

Fagboyinbo said the defendant unlawfully entered the workshop, owned by one Tunde Alabi, and stole some motor parts valued at N80,000.

Rafiu pleaded guilty to the offence levelled against him.

He said, “I was a motorcyclist in Lagos State before the government cancelled our operation in the state. That made me come to Osun State to work as a labourer. My relatives are in Lagos State.”

Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku remanded him at the Ilesa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till August 18, 2020
