An Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a 45-year-old man, Tajudeen Olaleye, at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged murder.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Yomi Osuolale, told the court Thursday that the defendant committed the offence on March 10, in Otun-Ekiti.
Inspector Osuolale alleged that the defendant murdered one Mrs Rasaki Taibat.
Osuolale said there was a fight between the defendant and someone in the neighbourhood, and the deceased tried to mediate between the two parties, in the process, the defendant stabbed her with a bottle, which led to her death.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice and adjourned the case till April 25, for mention.
