Magistrate court IV, sitting in Birnin Kebbi, has ordered for one, Miss Patricia Nebochi, 30, to be remanded in Argungu Correctional Centre, for allegedly stealing a newly born baby boy from Aisha Muhammadu Buhari hospital, Jega in Kebbi State.
Miss Nebochi, who is a resident of Tambuwal town in Sokoto State, ‘stole’ the newly born baby belonging to Fatimah Jafar of Galbi village in Jega local government area of Kebbi state.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Muttari Mati, told the court that “on November 21, 2020, at around 4 pm, a security man at the gate of the hospital intercepted the stolen child from the suspect.
Mati said, “when the suspect was about to be arrested, she abandoned the child and took to her heels and that in the process the child died.
The police prosecutor said the suspect was arraigned on two count charges, abduction and culpable homicide saying, the offences are punishable under sections 221 and 274 of the panel code.
He, therefore, asked the court to remand the suspect in Correctional Centre pending when the police completed their investigation.
The Magistrate, Zainab Bello Suru, ordered for the suspect to be remanded in the correctional centre while the case was adjourned to January, 5, for further mention.
