A magistrates’ court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of three students for allegedly causing the death of their colleague.
The defendants, Halima Shodimu (18), Zainab Agbedun (23) and Olaleye Oladunni (23), of the Iseyin College of Health Science and Technology, faced a two-count charge on conspiracy and murder.
The Magistrate, Mr M. Mudashiru, who did not take their plea for lack of jurisdiction, ordered their remand at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned the case to December 30.
Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Insp Femi Oluwadare, told the court that the defendants and others at large caused the death of one Eniola Ismail (16) by beating her with fists on July 29, at about 4pm in the Iseyin area of the state.
