A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Enugu Friday remanded two men in Nigerian Correctional Centre for attempting to kidnap the oldest man in Odinanso village, Idi Opi, Nsukka, Enugu State, Mr Romanus Ugwu.
The suspects, Ugwuiyi Nnamdi, 35 and Eleje Chinweokwu, 39, were remanded on a three-count charge of attempted kidnapping, felony and malicious damage to property punishable under the Criminal Code of the Revised Laws of Enugu State.

The charges read: “That you Ugwuiyi Nnamdi ‘m’, Eleje Chinweokwu ‘m’ and one other now at large on the same date, time, period and place at the aforementioned magisterial district did attempt to kidnap one Romanus Ugwu, the oldest man in the community, by invading his house at Odinanso Village Opi Nsukka, with a matchet, irons and other offensive weapon and destroying thing and scaring the occupants away and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 75 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol. II Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria 2004.”
The presiding Magistrate, Ukpai L. O remanded the suspects and adjourned the case till January 21, 2022, pending the report of the Attorney General of the State on the matter.
