Court remands 2 men over killing of police officer

A magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of two men, Oyewale Samuel (25) and Obasekere Abdulmalak (28), in the custody of the state CID.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendants conspired and killed ASP Lawal Idris who was attached to Oke-Ila Division.

The prosecutor said, “ASP Lawal Idris was the P & G, Oke-Ila Police Station, in Ado-Ekiti. While on lawful duty, the defendants driving on a one-way traffic lane on Adebayo-Iworoko road led to his death.”

The plea of the defendants was not taken.

The Magistrate, Ajibade PT, ordered their remand pending advice from the DPP and adjourned the case to October 10.
