An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court in Kwara State has ordered the remand of 14 suspected cultists who allegedly attacked three people identified as Basheer, Kareem and Quadri Onimangos of Onimango compound, Ilorin.
The suspected cultists were dragged to court for the offence of culpable homicide.
The Police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the complainants, while “dripping from injuries they sustained on their faces as a result of the attack, reported at the police station that they were attacked for inquiring about a N6,000 failed transaction at a Point of Sales (POS) with one Ibrahim Rasheed.”
The charge sheet added that “the suspects descended on the complainant, insulting and assaulting them.

“In the process, they carted away phones valued at N2.3 million, one Rolex wristwatch, N500,000 cash and also vandalised their vehicles.
“The suspects and others at large are members of Aiye and Eiye secret cults who went on the rampage attacking, maiming and killing innocent people and destroying their properties in Ilorin metropolis and environs.”
Magistrate Issa Agbetola who presided over the matter, refused the bail application moved by their counsels.
He ordered the remand of the suspects at a correctional centre and adjourned the case to May 8, 2024.
