A Kwara State High Court on Tuesday sentenced three persons to jail on a four-count charge bordering on cheating by impersonation and internet fraud.
The suspects are two siblings: Olaogun Seun, Olaogu Abidemi and Ojor Alex and all pleaded guilty.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin zonal office arraigned the suspects on the four-count charge thereby committed an offence contrary to section 96 of the penal code law and punishable under section 97 and 324 of the same law.
The commission secured the convictions after months of pursuing the case.
The accused persons during their arraignment before the court pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against them by the anti-graft body.
Prosecution counsel, Nnaemeka Omawa, had earlier told the court that prior to the arraignment, the defendants have approached the commission for a plea bargain agreement, which was considered while both the prosecution and the defendants have come up with the terms in line with the section 276 of the administration of criminal justice act.
Defence Counsel, Taofeek Alubarika, however pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, saying his clients have shown remorse on what they did.
The Presiding Judge, Justice M Abdulgafar, however sentenced them to four months imprisonment on each of the four-counts without option of fine.
The sentence is to run concurrently.
The Judge also ordered the defendants to forfeit all the exhibits recovered from them to the federal government.
