A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed December 4 for hearing in the application by a member of the House of Representative from Zamfara State, Sani Umar Dan-Galadima, surety to Faisal, son of a former chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina in alleged N2bn pension funds fraud.

Justice Okon Abang ruled that the surety appeared in court after hearing the news of his summons and without being served with the summons, which he considered to be a great respect to the court.

Earlier, counsel to Dan-Galadima, Mohammed Sheriff, pleaded with the court for time to file documents showing why the lawmaker should not forfeit the sum of N60m bond to the Federal Government.

He said the lawmaker has an undertaking with the Faisal’s mother that she will not disappoint him by ensuring the defendant attends his trial.

The court also gave the defence lawyers to Faisal till December 4 to open their defence in the matter, the EFCC having closed their case.

Meanwhile, the court will today hear the application for the bail of Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South) who was remanded for his inability to produce Maina who is facing corruption trial over alleged N2bn pension fraud.
