Court dissolves 7-year marriage over provocation

A customary court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, has dissolved a 7-year marriage of Ademola Adeparusi and his wife, Yinka, over provocation.

The petitioner, Adeparusi, a native of Ado-Ekiti, had dragged the wife Yinka, to court for free dissolution of the 7-year marriage.

He told the court that the marriage is blessed with a female child but they no longer have love for each other.

The petitioner also accused the wife of going out at will, not cooking food for him and maltreating their daughter.

He gave an instance when the respondent hit the daughter`s head against a wall. He therefore pleaded with the court for separation.

Yinka admitted that the marriage had produced a 5-year-old female child but denied the other Adeparusi’s claim of not cooking food for him and beating their daughter. She alleged that the petitioner is not mentally sound.

However, she did not support their separation as requested by the petitioner.

The President of the Court, Mrs. Olayinka Akomolede, dissolved the marriage and awarded the custody of the daughter to the respondent.

The court said the petitioner shall be paying N10,000 as feeding allowance monthly for the child and be responsible for the education of his daughter.

Access is granted to the petitioner to see his daughter without any molestation and a right of appeal is given to any aggrieved party within 30 days of the judgment.
