An Oredo magistrate court in Benin presided by Chief Magistrate Bright Eraze Oniha, has convicted nine persons for violating the coronavirus protocols in the state.
The convicts were sentenced to community service for not wearing facemasks in public and breaking the 10 pm to 5 am curfew in the state.

Twelve suspects were arraigned before the mobile court for violating coronavirus protocols, while eight were sentenced for refusing to wear face mask in public while one other was sentenced for breaking the curfew.
The suspects convicted for facemasks violation include Abu Sani, Umaru Ali, Emmanuella Sylvester, Desmond Victory, Peter Nyashi, Franca Osas, Kashatu Mahmud and Clement Palmer while Sylvester Alufokhai, was convicted for curfew violation.
They were convicted for violating Regulations 8(6)(c) of the Edo State Dangerous Infectious Diseases (Prevention) Regulations 2020 and Section 203 of the Criminal Code Law as well as Regulation 16 (3) of the Edo State Dangerous Infectious Diseases (Prevention) Regulations (2020).
The court found nine of the accused guilty of the offence preferred against them and discharged three other persons.
