An Imo State High Court has annulled the removal from office of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere.
Madumere was removed from office in controversial circumstances following the constitution of a 7-man panel by the Imo State House of Assembly, which investigated allegations of gross misconduct against him.
The deputy governor had been in political dispute with Governor Rochas Okorocha over the former’s ambition to contest the Imo state governorship election in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The court sitting in Owerri ruled on Tuesday that the impeachment did not follow due process and ordered Madumere to continue in office as deputy governor.
