Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a couple over an assault on their maid, simply identified as Precious on the Ikpoba Hill near Benin City in Ikpoba Okha LGA.
The suspects were alleged to have inflicted injuries on the maid’s body who happened to be a niece to the wife.
The wife, identified as Mama Gabriel, was said to have brought the minor from her mother, who is her elder sister.
In a viral video, a voice is heard asking the minor, “Who did this to you?” and the minor replied, “Mummy Gabriel.”

The voice continued: “This is molestation. Look at her body; they cut her and went to hide in church; bring them out. We will burn down the church. Your duty is to hand them over to the police.”
In the 1:17 seconds video, the voice continued: “They did this maltreatment to this girl and went to hide in the church? Bring mummy Gabriel out; we will not report you to human rights, but the police will arrest.”
The couple, it was gathered, were later arrested by the police after some people reported the matter at the Oregbeni Police Division, Ikpoba Hill.
The spokesman of the command, Moses Joel Yamu, said, “The command is in receipt of this incident. The victim is currently undergoing treatment while investigation continues.”
