The Executive Secretary, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Professor Garba Hamid Sharubutu, has described the recent management crisis at the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology Kano (FCAPT) to lack of information and misunderstanding between the management and board of the college.
He said as far as the council is concerned, it is an unfortunate development as the board and college management were unable to understand the various structures that were supposed to form the substance of the college.
Speaking shortly after the 2nd alumni association general meeting of the college held in Kano, Sharubutu said the college is answerable to ARCN and the council is being supervised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
“The board has its own statutory role and the management of the college also has its role. Lack of understanding between the management as well as the board is what brought the crisis but now everything has come to pass. Everyone has realized his own stand now and we are good to go,” he said.
On the provost’s appointment, Sharubutu said there was a misunderstanding between the two bodies.
“As I said, it was not about Gwaram, the provost, it is about misunderstanding between the functions of the board and the functions of the management,” he said.
