The Director of Nursing Services, Plateau State Ministry of Health, Ladi Davou Zuh, said the state was infiltrated with many fake health schools.
Zuh said such schools are churning out quacks, who then operate in various health centres as nurses.
Zuh expressed worry that many private hospitals hire the quacks as auxiliary nurses because of cheap remunerations.
“It is also disheartening to know that this same people can’t excuse themselves from the rise in maternal and infant mortality rate in the state as most of them pose as trained midwives while in actual sense, they’ve never been trained as one.
“Some also have become experts in terminating pregnancies for our teaming youths who end up destroying their wombs among others,” Zuh said.
