The National Council of Sports has recommended that the 2020 National Sports Festival should hold between December 3 to 18 in Edo State.
According to the communique issued at the end of the Council meeting in Asaba, it was agreed that the Games would open on Thursday December 3rd, with the opening and closing ceremony on 4th and 17th December respectively.

The competition proper is staggered in two phases from December 12th- 16th.

The recommendations are however subject to the approval of the PTF and final approval by President Mohammadu Buhari.
The Sports Festival was previously postponed few days to the kick off due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in March.
