The newly sworn-in Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon Shehu Bala, has inaugurated a 25-man peace and security committee to prevent breakdown of law in the area.
The chairman said the committee would work closely with the council and security agencies, as well as engage youths to achieve lasting peace in the area.

Hon Usman further urged the committee to look into all contentious issues and proffer solutions.
Jos North has witnessed ethno-religious crises in recent times in which many people were killed and houses burnt.
In a statement, a senior information officer in the council said the committee which comprised residents of Hwol, Yari, Nepa, Yelwan Zagam and Bidabidi communities had been tasked to come out with a framework that would help restore peace and harmony and ensure peaceful co-existence in the areas.
