The Cross River State Government has given automatic employment in the state civil service to Miss Arit Abam, an ex-NYSC member for honouring her father’s sacrifices to give her higher education.

Similarly, Akwa Ibom State governor, Umo Eno, last month completed a three-bedroom bungalow for her in Ugep Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Gov Eno said he was moved by the viral video made by the girl where she courageously returned to her father’s thatched house without shame to go and present her NYSC certificate to her dad who, instead of building himself a house, spent the money on her education, not minding she is a girl child.

Governor Bassey Otu lauded Governor Umo Enoh’s gesture, saying it confirms the bond between the two sister states.

He hosted Arit in his office where he charged youths in Cross River State and beyond to emulate such acts, which he described as “worthy of reward.”

Arit thanked Governor Otu for his magnanimity, which she sees as an encouragement toward maintaining cultural standards and values. She also acknowledged God for earning goodwill through a simple act of gratitude.

Governor Otu also gave Miss Arit the privilege to choose any ministry, department or agency she would prefer to work within the state civil service.
