The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has joined the rest of the world to motivate all citizens to wear a face mask to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The World Mask Week (WMW) aims to reinforce the importance of wearing face mask to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

In a statement to commemorate the WMW, the NCDC noted that wearing of face mask became necessary in the absence of a vaccine that could prevent infection.
It said as COVID-19 cases increased globally, Nigerians must depend on non-pharmaceutical measures, including the use of face masks, hand washing, physical distancing and supportive management of confirmed cases to mitigate the impact of the disease.
NCDC Director-General Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu said WMW was a timely campaign that showed what could be achieved “when government, private sector and individuals come together to push a simple yet important action.”
