Cornerstone Insurance Plc said it has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to deepen insurance awareness to curb the fake cases of third motor insurance policies.
At the donation of 300 reflective jackets and eight traffic kiosks to FRSC recently by the insurance firm, its head of Business Development, Charles Nwachukwu, said “We feel that reaching the public on safety messages will be better done by FRSC because of their interaction with motorists. There is a lot we can do with FRSC. Third party insurance isn’t doing very well but it should do better. We also discussed risk management.”
The Deputy Corps Marshal, Admin and Human Resources at FRSC, Ojeme Ewhrudjakpor, said the third party motor insurance has value but most people don’t know.
“Our goal is always safety. A lot of people collect insurance for the sake of collecting insurance. They buy whatever it is sold at the board of internal revenues or from touts. They just want to have something to show the FRSC, Police or VIO. They do not understand what they stand to benefit. We are hoping that with this kind of partnership, we can educate the people the more so they could get proper insurance.”
She also indicated that the FRSC will be deploying its robust data to aid the awareness campaign.
“We have data for crashes, the type of vehicles that are registered and all the vehicles that are involved in any period,” she said.
