Conventional schooling no solution to unemployment – Bishop

Women have been advised to monitor their children and wards to identify their God-given potentials so as to properly channel their minds  early in life.

Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, gave the advice in Awka during the launch of the Our Lady of Fatima N10 million Skill Acquisition Center of members of the Catholic Women Organization, Awka Deanery One.

He said conventional schooling is not the answer to the present unemployment situation facing the country, insisting that anyone who has a skill would be financially independent and an employer of labour.

Also speaking, the chaplain of the deanery, Rev. Father Nicholas Okekeocha, said time has come for women to stop depending solely on their husbands.

He said they should rather help in the financial upkeep of the family, calling on them to utilize the opportunity given them to acquire the needed skills.

Earlier, the organiser, Awka One Deanery, CWO, Lady Ngozi Okoye, said the project was targeted at properly equipping the women financially to be able to play their roles as mothers, describing them as the backbone of every family and society.
