The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State yesterday elected Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu as the state chairman of the party amidst controversy.
The congress which started around 4:30pm was overseen by the chairman of the congress committee, Alhaji Gambo Lawan.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that the chairman of the congress committee was held hostage in his hotel room by some suspected aggrieved members of the party.
Briefing journalists yesterday morning, some leaders of the party kicked against holding the congress, alleging that delegates list was doctored.
However, Omodewu eventually emerged the chairman at the end of the day.
In his acceptance speech, Omodewu said his election signals beginning of a new chapter.
