Many celebrities have reacted to the ‘Best Dressed Female Award’ presented to popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky. Daily Trust Saturdays highlights all the controversies that have come up following this event.
It’s no longer news that popular crossdresser Bobrisky was the recipient of the best dressed female award at the Beasts of Two Worlds movie premiere which took place in Lagos State. The award, which was presented by the movie’s producer Eniola Ajao, also came with a cash prize of N1 million.
However, this move by the event organisers has stirred reactions from individuals as many celebrities took to their social media platforms to express their displeasure over the award announcement.
Toyin Abraham was one of the first to express shock over the news. In a viral online post, the actress expressed her confusion in Yoruba as she kept repeating, ‘Bobo, best female? Help me understand. Bobo? Female?”

Nigerian artist Portable also didn’t waste time to call out the cross dresser and event organisers saying that Bobrisky wasn’t a woman and therefore shouldn’t have been given the award for best female.
“I heard that Bobrisky was given the best-dressed female at a movie premiere, is Bobrisky a woman? He’s not. It’s all artificial. You wey we know brotherhood con dey call yourself sisterhood. If you come my hood dressed as a woman, dem go beat you with firewood,” he said.
The artist also went on to question why the judges didn’t deem it fit to award any other woman at the programme instead of choosing a cross dresser.
In an Instagram post, the artist said, “All the ladies and actresses that were at the premiere were snubbed, so which one of you gave a transgender woman an award for women? You shouldn’t have. He’s a man who paid to have breast implants done. What are our children supposed to say?”
Bobrisky didn’t hesitate to fire back at Portable, stating that even if others were to have an issue with the award, Portable was not worthy of speaking down on him.
In his reply post, Bobrisky said, “Wetin concern me with your life, I resemble your fellow people in the ghetto? If you try rubbish with me, I will take you to where they’ll deal with you and your dead career will come to an end finally.’
Bobrisky didn’t stop there soon after sharing the picture on his Instagram story. The crossdresser took things a step further by going to Portable’s message box and addressing him directly. In a series of audio messages that became available online, Bob was heard heavily attacking Portable while also cursing the singer’s family.
In a new diss track titled ‘Brotherhood’, Portable attacked and called out the cross dresser over his fashion choices while stating that he was going through a gender identity crisis.
Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa also blasted the judges. Amusa, who attended the film premiere, conveyed her displeasure by saying she left the event.
“What is wrong with us? When did we become this? I don’t understand how the judges disrespected every woman who made an effort to be at that event. Even if it’s 5 kobo an individual used to put their looks together, why is it that when it was time to pick the best-dressed female, you watered down the efforts of all the individuals at that event by giving it to a cross-dresser? What is wrong with us? I don’t understand it,” she said.
However, an Instagram user posed a question which emphasised that celebrities are the ones who have embraced the crossdresser for what he says he is and therefore shouldn’t be shocked at him winning the best dressed female award.
@arashowpartiesandeventss said, “I am not disrespecting anyone here, God sees my heart and this is also a public platform. I have been seeing the whole saga from everywhere and this just hit my mind. I may be wrong, but please, can someone explain this?
“They always embrace Bob, they always look forward for her to come to their parties, and they do honour Bob. We have seen her displayed invites with boxes of gifts and many more. If Bob is a man, why are you giving her female Asoebi with gele? I’m just confused so I need someone to clarify this. This is a polite post, Thank you.”
In a turn of event, Nollywood producer, Eniola Ajao in an interview with AriseTv apologised for the announcement, stating that it was all supposed to be a joke and disclosed that the award was given to promote her film ‘Ajakaju’!
She said, “It was just all jokes, you know. We just want to have fun. We want people to talk because we need the film to be in the faces of people.
“I have been taking it upon myself to protect the image of a lot of people and I have been doing it all alone, by myself, without getting help. So, I said, “What can we do for people to talk about this film? And we decided to give it to Bob; Bob is always a controversial person.”
