Continuous outbreak of diseases worries FCTA

The Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Malam Adamu Abubakar Bappa, has expressed concern over the continuous outbreak of preventable diseases in some parts of the territory.

Malam Bappa said despite the gains made by the secretariat in vaccinating children, some preventable diseases were still prevalent in the FCT.

Bappah, while speaking with newsmen during the “2019 Africa Vaccination Week” which commenced on April 22 and will end on April 30, called on parents to ensure they made their children available for vaccination.

He also stressed the need to intensify effort to ensure that all eligible persons received the life-saving benefit of vaccines in order for every individual to survive and thrive.

He said in order to ensure that vaccination reached children in all communities across the FCT, the vaccinators, as part of the 2019 campaign, would embark on continuous community sensitisation, mobilisation and immunisation services with emphasis on the value of vaccines for the health of the children.

He added that the 2019 campaign, with the theme: “Protected Together Vaccines Work”, would celebrate vaccines heroes across the territory.
