Contest opens for essays on the Nigerian experience

‘Of This Country’, a collection of personal essays on Nigeria, seeks essays from un-agented and unpublished Nigerian writers.

The collection expects essays that “explore Nigeria through the memories and experiences of the phenomenal writers it has produced.”

Publishing in September 2021, its intention is to bring together  upcoming alongside acclaimed Nigerian writers  through the competition which includes Helon Habila, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chigozie Obioma, Sefi Atta, Inua Ellams and Yomi Adegoke. The winner will also receive a fee of £1,000.

The contest is promoted by the Borough Press, a subsidiary of HarperCollins Publishers Ltd.

Deadline is March 1, 2021.
