In a statement issued in Abuja, she expressed concern over the number of qualified youths who roam the streets across the nation because they are unable to secure admission into our local universities.
She further stated that “the main reason for this is ignorance; you find out that most Federal universities are oversubscribed.
“On the other hand there are many good private universities with a variety of courses that these youths can apply to.
“Additionally there are immense educational opportunities in other countries waiting to be tapped.’’
Otegbade further urged government at different levels to make admission into our tertiary institutions less cumbersome as it is abroad.
“Why do students meet university requirements abroad more easily than they do locally, for instance?
“We need to seriously look into this as there is a growing number of youths stranded after their secondary school education.
