The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has called on the National Assembly to consider its proposal to be recognised and incorporated to complement the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in providing security.
The Commandant General (CG) of VGN, Navy Captain Umar Bakori (Rtd), made the call shortly after submitting their proposal to the House of Representatives in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said there was the need to support and strengthen the activities of the vigilantes backed by stronger laws than to establish state police, which he noted, would only create more problems for Nigeria.
Bakori, therefore, stressed the need for the president to as a matter of urgency assent to the bill seeking to establish the VGN which was currently before him.
