Crisis is brewing in the Sokoto State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as some stakeholders in the state have kicked against the consensus arrangement reached by some party leaders in the choice of party officials at the ward congresses.
The Member representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency, Abdullahi Salame, said many stakeholders were not party to the meeting which opted for the consensus arrangement.

Some party leaders last Thursday resolved to choose ward officials by consensus. The resolution was reached during a meeting held at the Gawon Nama residence of Senator Aliyu Wamakko, who is the leader of the party in the state.
But speaking with newsmen at the weekend, Hon Salame said the decision would not stand because other key members of the party were not carried along.
He said, “The Speaker of the House of Assembly who is a card carrying member of APC and myself were not part of that decision. We only heard that some stakeholders of the party met at a private house of one of our leaders and took the decision.
“But this is wrong because party affairs cannot be discussed and resolved in an individual’s house; it must be at the party’s office.
“We want the leadership of the party in the state to provide the same level playing ground to all members interested in contesting elective offices.”
Meanwhile, the APC in Benue State has said it would today commence the sale of nomination forms to aspirants seeking various positions in the party’s forthcoming ward congresses at the party’s secretariat in Makurdi.
State Caretaker Chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro, disclosed this yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital.
