There is confusion in Nasarawa State over the actual spokesman of the state governor, Abdullahi Sule.
Sule had on Thursday announced the appointment of Ibrahim Addra of Channels Television as his chief press secretary.
But confusion came following a publication in one of the national dailies by the Director General, Strategic Communications and Press Affairs, Yakubu Lamai, that his office remained in existence despite the appointment.
“Addra will be joining Malam Yakubu Lamai, who remains the Director General, Strategic Communications and Press Affairs to His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule,” he said.
But the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dogo Shammah, told Journalists yesterday in Lafia that Yakubu Lamai was “on his own”.
“Whatever interpretation he is giving is his personal interpretation, but Governor Abdullahi Sule has today ( Friday ) during the emergency state executive council meeting announced that he had appointed a chief press secretary and he thanked the DG for what he had done and from now onward, he would be restricted to director general strategic communication while the new CPS will handle press affairs.
“But if he is given a different interpretation, that is his personal business but I have never seen where a CPS works under a DG, the DG is a nomenclature that is created politically by the governor” he said.
