A policeman and three others lost their lives on Thursday in Odo Ere, the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State during the confusion that ensued after the reported arrest of some hoodlums suspected to be members of the robbery gang that invaded banks on Tuesday in the surrounding communities.
Excited residents were said to have trooped en masse to the police station at Ode Ere in the midday to celebrate the fit.

Unfortunately, three people died when a policeman accidentally pull the trigger of his gun to control the surging crowd that came to catch a glimpse of two robbery suspects purportedly arrested at the station.
Irked by the death of their kinsmen, the irate youth were said to have mobilised themselves and hacked the policeman to death.
Two of the victims of the accidental discharge were said to have been the indigenes of Egbe, while the third person came from a neighbouring village of Igbaru Duro .
A police shopper, believed to have been drafted from force headquarters in Abuja to monitor the situation in the axis was sighted hovering around the affected communities around 5pm Thursday.
All efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) failed as he did not pick calls.
