There was confusion in Ayen community, Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, when a locally made gun accidentally damaged the testicles of a 17-year- old boy before killing him.
The incident reportedly happened during the weekend.
The 17- year-old simply identified as Osaro, hid the gun beneath his trouser but it exploded as he was walking.
The boy died before help could come his way and upon hearing the news, the father of the deceased collapsed.
Residents said no one knew how the gun exploded because the victim was alone when the incident happened.
The incident happened at a time residents of Ayen were involved in a land dispute with neighbouring Owegie community.
The dispute reportedly started when Ayen community sold some plots of land in Owegie community to some persons.
The youths of Owegie had mobilized to recover the property but in the process, they clashed with those from Ayen community.
The town hall of Owegie community was thereafter set ablaze.
When contacted, the Edo state police public relations officer, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, said he was not aware of the incident.
” I am not I aware of it, I am yet to be briefed,” he said.
