Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State, despite the confluence, still suffers from water scarcity more than other cities located in the North. This is despite efforts by previous administrations to address the situation.
The previous government constructed a water treatment plant worth N10 billion, to end water scarcity especially in Lokoja metropolis. The project was expected to provide about 10 million to 12 million gallons of water per day. Unfortunately, the project cannot be maintained by the current administration. As such it is now usual to see people moving about in the city carrying all manner of containers in search of water.

This situation is quite worrisome as the government seems to have abandoned any effort to end the water crisis.
Let the government end the crisis by doing the needful for its citizens.
It is our collective responsibility to speak and call the attention of the government to address this fundamental responsibility. Lokoja is retrogressing and can no longer be addressed as a state capital due to lack of infrastructure.
We hope the government will understand the importance of bringing an end to this water crisis.
