The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the confirmation of Prof. Rhoda Gumus, as a National Commissioner (South South) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party which described Gamus as “a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” said her confirmation was a coup against democracy in Nigeria.

Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement, said her confirmation was “a coup” against democracy and an open invitation to serious political crisis that can derail the country’s hard-earned democracy and lead to breakdown of law and order if not immediately reversed.
