A renowned businessman and a traditional title holder, Alhaji Sani Buhari Daura, Walin Daura, is dead.
The industrialist died at a hospital in the United Arab Emirates at the age of 89.
Arrangements are being made by the family to bring home his remains for burial.
His son, Munzali Sani Buhari, told Daily Trust on phone that the family had started receiving mourners at their Kano residence, including the Kano Deputy Governor, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna.
Reacting to the death of the late Wali, the Daura Emirate Council, described the demise as a colossal loss not only to his family or Daura Emirate but to anyone who had come in contact with late Wali in one way or another.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Farouk Umar, Galadiman Daura, Alhaji Amadi Diddiri said late Wali was a man of impeccable character.
Late Wali was survived by wives and children, among whom, is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Salisu Buhari.
In his condolence message to the family, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said, “We really lost an illustrious son of both Kano and Katsina states. We saw him more like a Kano citizen than Katsina. We lost a very disciplined community leader, a royal blood, who believed in serving humanity and he was very humble,” the governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar.
President Muhammadu Buhari, while mourning the passing of well-known Kano businessman and industrialist, described his death as “a great loss not only to Katsina and Kano states but also the entire country because of his role in the country’s economy.”
The President, in a statement issued yesterday by his media aide, Garba Shehu, wished the Buhari Daura families in Daura and Kano, as well as government and peoples of the two states the fortitude to bear the loss.
