Committee wants destroyed houses in Zangon Kataf reconstructed

The Atyap Chiefdom Peace and Security Partnership Committee has appealed to philanthropic organisations and public-spirited individuals to assist in the reconstruction of houses destroyed during the recent crises in the chiefdom to enable displaced persons return home.

The Chairman of the Committee, John Bala Gora, made the appeal during the monthly meeting of the committee held at the Agwatyap’s Palace at Atak Njei, Zangon Kataf.

Gora, who said displaced persons comprising Atyap and Fulani were passing through untold hardship, said the situation requires urgent attention.

He said many Fulani, who fled the area as a result of the crisis, want to return home and urged the people, irrespective of tribe and religion, to consolidate on the normalcy that has since returned and show love to one another.

While thanking all members of the committee for their relentless efforts and high sense of commitment to the task of peace building, Gora called on them to make more concerted efforts at uniting the people.

The meeting emphasised the need for experts in peace building to meet with the Atyap, Hausa and Fulani youths, particularly from Abuyap, Matiyei villages and Hausa and Fulani from Zango Urban, so as to dialogue and bring an end to frequent threats in the area.

Reports from various sub communities reflecting the level of progress or otherwise were also received to enable the main committee renew strategies in its efforts to achieve enduring peace in the chiefdom.
