The Colombian Government has appointed Mrs. Maricel Romero as Colombia’s Honorary Consul in Nigeria with residence in Abuja.
Romero presented her Letters of Commission as the new Honorary Consul of Colombia to Nigeria to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Onyeama on Friday.

She said the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Colombia in Nigeria was a long-standing need which reflected the mutual interest of the parties in expanding collaboration between the two countries, as well as opening up new opportunities for more effective use of the potential of the Colombian community in Nigeria.
She said: “It is the hope of the Government of Colombia to strengthen ties with Nigeria who share a lot of similarities from the type of food grown to cultural values with Colombia and to enhance ties of goodwill and cooperation with Colombia.”
The minister expressed hope for continued co-operation and stronger bilateral relationships between Nigeria and Colombia, especially in the area of branding.
