A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Zaria on Tuesday heard a case of criminal conspiracy and cheating brought against the Provost of the City College of Health Science and Technology, Zaria, Mr. Sankyai Obadiah.
Some students of the college had instituted the case when they discovered that the school was not accredited and approved by the relevant authorities, yet the management went ahead to admit them as students.
The counsel of the appellants, Barrister Hussaini Abdu, said the action of the college was injurious to the future ambition of his clients, as the management were aware that the college was an illegal institution but admitted his clients as students.
In his response, the counsel of the defendant, Barrister Yusuf Sambo, challenged the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the charges.
He however said that at the right time they would present documents to counter the claims of the complainants.
Before adjourning the case to February 11, 2019, Chief Magistrate Umaru Bature, admitted the defendant on bail in the sum of N200,000 with two senior civil servants or district heads or someone with landed property in Zaria as sureties.
