The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has appealed to those who registered in Cross River State to visit their various wards and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of this year’s general elections.
The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, at the commission’s office in Calabar, Anthonia Nwobi, made the appeal yesterday in Calabar, lamenting that there has been a very poor turnout of collectors.
In an interview with newsmen, she disclosed that as of Sunday, January 8, 2023, less than ten thousand PVCs had been collected from the batch of 2019.
She said, “People should please, go to their ward distribution centres for collection of their PVCs. If they comply with the procedures, they would be attended to within 15 minutes or less and they would be able to go back to whatever they were doing. Besides, we are doing all of this to avoid stampede.
