One of them said, “The wall of one of the female hostels collapsed this morning (Friday). It was the bathroom wall which caved in when they were planning to take their bath. But thank God, people rushed down there to retrieve them from the rubble. They have been stabilized at the clinic and they will get further medical treatments.”

Reacting in a statement signed by NYSC’s Director, Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the Director-General called on the state government to urgently equip the camp with sustainable facilities that will not endanger lives.

He stated that it was the primary function of various State Governments to build and maintain facilities in the Orientation Camps as contained in the NYSC Act.

On his part, Megwa said the situation was brought under control through the collaboration of the entire camp officials that served as first responders to the two injured Corps Members.

He said the responders were effectively coordinated by the State Coordinator.

He stated that those injured were very stable and receiving  medical attention at a health facility in the State.
