A bridge that connects Kwara and Oyo states from the Okolowo Junction of Ilorin has collapsed, cutting off the two states along that axis. The deplorable state of the bridge built during the colonial times was said to be responsible for the collapse.
Residents of the state, as well as transporters and farmers who use the road on a daily basis have lamented the severe hardship they are facing due to the situation.

Some residents had held a peaceful save-our-soul protest over the deplorable condition of the facility, urging the government to fix it.
A farmer, Salaudeen Munasir, who spoke on the issue, said the situation has affected their farming activities adversely.
Also, a motorist, Ibrahim, said “It is now simply impassable, leaving thousands of people affected. Motorists now have to find an alternative route which has caused a lot of hardship.”
A representative of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Nurudeen Opoola, passionately appealed to the federal government to fix the collapsed bridge.
