The Coalition of Nigerian Muslim Women has sought the support of Media Trust Limited (publishers of Daily Trust and other titles) to aid advocacy for an end to discrimination against the use of hijab in Nigeria.

The coalition, during a visit to the company’s corporate head office in Abuja on Wednesday, stressed the need for more sensitization of non-Muslims that hijab is a symbol of freedom for women, by Allah, to promote modesty in society.

The group, led by Hajiya Hadiza Eneze Gomina, said with the adornment of hijab in public guaranteed, laws should be made to make Muslim women feel protected by symbols of authority in all spheres of life.

“She should therefore not suffer any harm by exercising this right.

“We solicit and strongly count on your support in spreading this message and supporting Muslim women and girls within and outside your organization in their desire to exercise their constitutional freedom and also fulfil their obligation to their creator while reaching their full potential in any chosen field of endeavour without any restriction or harassment,” Gomina said.
