Coach Bala demands more cohesion from Flying Eagles

Olympic Eagles assistant coach, Abubakar Bala, has charged the national U-20 boys team, the Flying Eagles, to improve on team cohesion to better their chances of winning this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup.

On Wednesday night, the seven-time African champions caused a major upset when they stunned hosts and six-time world champions Argentina 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the youth championship.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, the Technical Adviser of Kwara United commended the Head Coach, Ladan Bosso, and the players for bringing succour to Nigerian football.

He said in recent times, Nigerian football has suffered several setbacks but the impressive performances of the Flying Eagles have rekindled hope for a better tomorrow.

“I am very happy with the Flying Eagles. They have made up proud. I am also happy that my kins-man and president, Ladan Bosso, is responsible for this joyous moment.

“However, I urge the team to be more cohesive in their future matches. There should be more team work. When they play as a team, it will be easier for them to achieve their target.

“If the boys can sustain the fighting spirit they exhibited on Wednesday against Argentina, I believe they will win Africa her second U-20 World Cup trophy,” said the former Kwara United gaffer.
