One of the youngest coaches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Abubakar Bala, has been appointed as the new Technical Adviser of Katsina United.

The former Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United and Lobi Stars coach was unveiled on Wednesday by the interim chairman of the club, Alhaji Kabir Dan’lami Rimi.

Bala has signed a one-year contract and is expected to turn around the fortunes of the club which is placed 17th on the NPFL table with 14 points from 12 matches.

Katsina United have so far won three, drawn five and lost four matches.

They have an outstanding match with former African champions Enyimba.

It will be recalled that Katsina United started the current season with Coach Tony Bolus as Technical Adviser.

However, after only eight matches, the former MFM coach was suspended over acts of insubordination and poor performances.

Bishir Saduaki then acted as Head Coach before the recent appointment of Bala as the new Technical Adviser.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the new coach said he was ready to justify the confidence reposed in him by the management.

“I am happy with the opportunity to lead the technical crew of Katsina United. I want to thank the management of the club for believing in my ability to handle the team.

“I will do my best to lift Katsina United to higher heights. But I cannot do it alone so I am calling for all hands to be on the deck for us to succeed,” said the Olympic Eagles assistant coach.
