The Club Owners Association of Nigeria have expressed their delight over the qualification of Nigeria’s sole representative on the continent, Rivers United, to the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian champions drew 2-2 with Diables Noirs FC of Congo on Sunday to advance to the quarter-final stage of the league, which had secured Nigeria four berths in future CAF club competitions.

Club Owners Association of Nigeria, the umbrella body of top division clubs in Nigeria said the ticket secured by Rivers United FC was exemplary, historic and a source of excitement to the entire Football fraternity in the country.

The Association in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Barr. Isaac Danladi and the Executive Secretary, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka commended the management, players, officials and fans of the club for the feat achieved, even as they described them as worthy ambassadors of the country.

“We are indeed excited by your excellent performances and results so far, plus the quarter final ticket. It means a lot to us as a football nation and it has secured our 4 slots in future participation in CAF competitions, you are our worthy representative”, the statement said.

Club Owners assured the club of its support and prayers as they advance into the crucial stages of the championship, with a charge on the coaches and players to remain focused, committed and shun any act of complacency in subsequent games.
