Club owner tasks young Nigerian players on discipline, humility

A football player agent and Chief Executive Officer of Water FC of Abuja, Nureni Makanjuola has urged Nigerian players to embrace discipline and humility if they want to succeed in their careers.

Makanjuola gave the advice on the sideline after a friendly game between his team (Water FC) and City FC both Abuja-based to mark this year’s Father’s Day and Sallah celebrations.

He stressed that a player or sports person who makes effective use of discipline, determination and dedication in his career will not only have a successful one but also make impact even after his sporting days.

The international football agent further noted that the football friendly match was also used mark the 70th birthday anniversary of Gboyega Fatimilehin as well as promoting community engagement among Abuja residents and its environs in the spirit of Sallah.

“Discipline is the bedrock of whatever you want to achieve in life. As a father, you have to be responsible, disciplined and focused even as a player or sports man or woman. Some players engage in all sorts of negative things but they should not go with the crowd, they have to be distinct and let people know them for who they are.

“So, I am imploring them (the players) to embrace the three Ds; Discipline, Determination and Dedication. If they do, they will go a long way in their careers and will be successful,” he said.

Despite his team’s 0-3 loss against City FC, Makanjuola pledged to keep his players facing challenging opponents so they gain more confidence. He also mentioned that his lads have learned a lot from City FC and would keep improving without losing focus.
