Speaking during this year’s Fathers’ Day celebration at First Baptist Church Gwagwalada Abuja, the CAN chairman said the church was worried by the wayward lives of some fathers who do not bring honour to their children and the entire family.

Taking his text from the book of James 1:18-27, the Reverend stressed the need for fathers to ensure proper training and educational development of their children for the betterment of the society. He said, “A Christian father is not the one who only preaches, teaches but the one who lives by example.”

A statement from Mathew Ayiola, said the CAN chairman advised Christian fathers not to leave the upbringing of their children to mothers alone.

He urged fathers to use this year’s occasion to renew their faith in God to guarantee their eternal life. The president of the Men Missionary Union (MMU), of the church Mr Segun Fadare said the day was set aside by Nigerian Baptist Convention to celebrate and appreciate the roles of fathers towards the propagation of the gospel.

He said the union had mapped out strategies to establish outreach centres in rural areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to ensure effective propagation of the gospel at the grassroots.
